Police Officer Satisfaction Survey

The Police Officer Satisfaction Survey allows officers who were subject to investigation to express their views on how they were treated by the Office.

The main findings of the survey carried out in 2023/24 are:

  • Police officers had positive views of Ombudsman staff with regards to how they were treated. They also felt our staff were easy to understand and were knowledgeable.
  • Officers were more likely to be satisfied with the manner in which they were treated, the explanation of the process and the clarity of correspondence than they were for other aspects of the process.
  • Over three quarters of officers surveyed felt their complaint was dealt with independently.
  • Almost three fifths of officers felt the police complaints system makes the police more accountable.
