Jennifer Lamont is the Director of Organisational Impact, Support and Standards, a new Department in the Police Ombudsman's Office with a specific focus on demonstrating the impact of our work on improving policing and building public confidence in policing.
Jennifer joined the Office in February 2025, having worked in health and social care for the majority of her career. She started in the Department of Health in 2003 working in public safety, personnel development and safety and quality. She was responsible for producing standards for regulated services, sponsoring the health service regulator RQIA and the endorsement of NICE guidance in Northern Ireland.
In 2017 she was seconded to RQIA to support the Chief Executive with an extensive reform programme and in 2018 she formally joined the organisation as Head of Business Support where she oversaw a range of corporate services and functions including communications and engagement, complaints, emergency planning, intelligence and information, admin, HR and finance.
In 2020 she was seconded to the Public Health Agency (PHA) to develop the NI Covid-19 Contact Tracing Service. She remained in PHA to manage the Covid-19 vaccination programme when it transferred to PHA in 2022.
She also supported PHA with its response to a number of statutory inquiries including those into Muckamore Abbey Hospital and Covid-19.
As well as her public sector experience, Jennifer worked in the private sector early in her career and in 2020 spent time working with the Croatian government on an EU-funded project developing standards for foster care services.
