Witness appeal - Lurgan

Published Date: 10 March 2011

The Police Ombudsman's Office has issued a witness appeal in relation to an incident in Lurgan last month.

At around 11.00pm on Friday 11th February, in the area around Father Joe's Bar, an adult male was arrested by police following an altercation and taken in to a police Landrover. Investigators from the Police Ombudsman's Office would like to speak to anyone in the area around the Bar, and in the Carnegie Street area who may have witnessed this incident.

"We are looking to obtain a fuller picture of what happened between the police and the individual in question, said a spokesman. "We believe there were a number of people around the area at the time and would like to hear from those who witnessed the circumstances leading up to the arrest and what happened afterwards."

Anyone wanting to contact the Police Ombudsman's Office is asked to call the Freephone Witness Appeal Line on 0800 345 7106.
