Sudden Death

The Police Ombudsman's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Coleraine this morning.

Its understood the man died at around eleven o'clock at a house in "The Heights" area of the town.

Police officers had been at the house conducting inquiries.

First reports indicate that the man collapsed, police officers applied first aid but that the person died at the scene.

The Police Ombudsman's Office is routinely notified in circumstances when a person dies who has been in contact with police.

A Police Ombudsman team of investigators is now at the scene.

It has also appointed a Family Liaison Officer to inform and support the man's relatives.

The man's name will not be released until all family members have been informed.
