Published Date: 3 May 2018

The Police Ombudsman's Office has issued an appeal for information about an incident in North Belfast last week involving police officers and a group of youths.

A member of the public, who was parked in traffic on the Oldpark Road near the junction with Rosapenna Street, said she witnessed what appeared to be an altercation between one of the officers and around five to seven youths between the ages of 14 and 17.

The incident took place at hoardings near shops in the area at around 6pm on Tuesday 24 April. An unmarked police car was in attendance and youths were seen with a number of pallets nearby.

Investigators are asking anyone who was involved in, or who witnessed the incident, to call the Police Ombudsman’s Witness Appeal Line on 07771510920.
