Police Ombudsman witness appeal

Published Date: 26 March 2019

The Police Ombudsman’s Office has commenced an investigation into the police response to initial reports about an incident at the Greenvale Hotel, Cookstown, on St Patrick’s Night (Sunday 17 March 2019), where three young people tragically lost their lives.

It follows a referral from the PSNI, which has asked the Police Ombudsman to conduct an independent investigation into the initial police response.

A Police Ombudsman spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the families who have been so tragically bereaved.

“Our investigators have now begun gathering information about the initial sequence of events, and have appealed for witnesses to contact them. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw police in the area of the Greenvale Hotel on St Patrick’s evening, 17 March.

“Our investigators can be contacted via direct message on Facebook using the following link http://m.me/policeombudsman, or by email at [email protected].

“It would also be helpful if anyone contacting us can include a contact telephone number in their message or email.”
