Police Ombudsman condemns murder

Published Date: 10 March 2009

The Police Ombudsman's Office has condemned the murders of recent days.

"I offer my profound sympathy to the family and friends of the police officer murdered last night in Craigavon and also to all who grieve for the soldiers who lost their lives at Masserene on Saturday.

"The murders must be utterly condemned as attacks on the progress which society has worked so hard to achieve.

"This latest incident was a cowardly attack on an officer responding to a call for help, and performing his duties on behalf of everyone in our community.

"I am appalled by what has happened and would hope that those who perpetrated these heinous crimes will be brought to justice quickly".
