Published Date: 31 October 2016

The Police Ombudsman’s Office has appealed for information about an incident involving police and a member of the public they were attempting to restrain in Kilrea in August.

It happened at Bridge Street in the town at around 2.30pm on 14 August.

A spokesman for the Police Ombudsman’s Office said: “A number of people were in the area and may have seen what happened as police officers were dealing with a male member of the public.

“We would be keen to hear from anyone who has any information about the incident, or who may have recorded video footage of what happened on their mobile phones.

“We are also keen to speak to a member of the public who may have assisted police during the incident.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Police Ombudsman’s freephone witness appeal line on 0800 032 7880.
