The Police Ombudsman's Office has appealed for information following an incident in which police discharged shots in North Belfast this evening (Wed 14 March 2007).
A number of shots were discharged as officers attempted to apprehend a man in the Ardilea Drive area of the city at around 5pm.
It is not believed anyone was injured.
As is normal procedure, the Police Ombudsman was informed of the incident by the PSNI and has launched an investigation.
A spokesman said: "Our investigators have been tasked to the scene and will conduct a thorough, independent and impartial investigation of the incident."
