Police Ombudsman appeal

Published Date: 1 May 2001

The Police Ombudsman’s Office has appealed for information about a road accident in west Belfast early this morning in which a 21-year man was killed.

The accident happened on the Whiterock Road shortly after one o’clock when a police Land Rover and a stolen Metro car were in collision.

The Police Ombudsman’s Office says it plans to mount a full forensic reconstruction of the incident:

“We are very anxious to hear from anyone who saw the dark blue Metro car – Registration Number TAZ 4312 - early this morning or who saw the accident itself to contact us,” a spokesman said.

The Police Ombudsman’s Office is called to investigate such incidents as a matter of procedure.
