The Police Ombudsman's Office has issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed an early morning disturbance in Portadown in February of this year to contact them.
The Office is investigating a complaint, which has arisen from a disturbance in Herron's Country Fired Chicken premises in the town's Castle Street at about one o'clock on the morning of Saturday, February 1.
It's understood that a male and his friends were attacked by another group of men in the disturbance and that one man was hit on the head with a bottle, causing him serious injuries.
A Police Ombudsman spokesman said the Office it is keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened:
"From our investigations we know there were people on the premises who were not involved in the disturbance but who saw what happened. In fact, one female took refuge behind the counter.
"We would appeal to them to come forward. We give them our assurances that anything they tell us will be treated in the strictest confidence," he said.
Anyone with information about what happened has been asked to contact the Police Ombudsman's Office on 028 90 828735 or 028 90 828707 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
