No investigation into Derry/Londonderry death

Published Date: 13 October 2011

Investigators from the Police Ombudsman's Office have decided not to investigate the circumstances around the death of a man in Derry/Londonderry last month.

The incident was referred to the Office under normal procedure when an individual dies within 24 hours of police contact. The police had accompanied officials from HM Revenue and Customs during a search of the business premises in the Waterside areas of the city where the man worked.

A number of preliminary enquiries were made, but investigators were satisfied that the police had no involvement in the man's death and as a result have called themselves out of the case.
