Appeal for information following man’s death at Cloughey

The Police Ombudsman’s Office has appealed for witnesses following the death of a 27-year-old man at Cloughey in Co. Down yesterday afternoon (Saturday 25 April).

The Police Ombudsman’s Office has appealed for witnesses following the death of a 27-year-old man at Cloughey in Co. Down yesterday afternoon (Saturday 25 April).

After receiving a report of a concern for safety at about 11.20am, police officers found the man lying outside his apartment in the village’s Main Street. Despite attempts by police officers and paramedics to resuscitate him, he later died at the scene.

A spokesman for the Police Ombudsman’s Office said: “As police officers were present, the PSNI notified us about the death and we have commenced an independent investigation.

“Our investigators have been at the scene and have begun gathering evidence to piece together the course of events which resulted in this tragic and untimely death.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in the Main Street area of Cloughey at about 1.30pm and may have seen what happened to contact our freephone witness appeal line on 0800 032 7880.
